I was asked to paint a gift item for Jared Allen to celebrate his induction into the Vikings Ring of Honor. Since retiring, Jared Allen has been chasing his new career as a professional curler. (Unsurprisingly, he's really good at it, and is attempting to make the US Olympic team. USA! USA! USA!) With that in mind the Vikings asked if I could paint a curling stone for him. After looking up what a curling stone was, I jumped at the chance. What I failed to realize until after I received the stone was curling stones are 40 pound chunks of actual granite stone! Regardless of the challenges, this was one of my favorite projects to date.
Below are the final results as well as an image of the stone in it's original condition, and one of Jared Allen receiving the painted curling stone!
(Special thanks to Nate for the picture and opportunity!)
